On Saturday evening we enjoyed some gelatto by the Tiber River with the Missionaries of Charity of Mary Immaculate who serve at the Domus while studying in Rome.
In honor of Saint John the Baptist we visited the church San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini where they have first class relics of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Mary Magdalene.
Venerating the relic of St. John the Baptist |
After venerating the relics of these two New Testament saints, we were fortunate to make the acquaintance of the church sacristan who unlocked the case where the reliquary of of St. Mary Magdalene is housed. We had the opportunity to hold and venerate the relic.

We participated in Sunday Mass at the Church of Santo Spirito in Sassia with other English speaking pilgrims. After Mass, we made a short visit to the shrines of the Divine Mercy and St. John Paul II located at the church. Afterwards, we hurried to St. Peter's to attend the Angelus Address and receive the blessing of Papa Francesco.

After such a full morning, we returned to the Domus for another delicious pranzo (noon meal) before attending a seminar on the history of Roman places of worship and an introduction to the Basilica of St. Peter's in preparation for our tour tomorrow.
