First Visit to St. Peter's Basilica

Today was our first day out in the city as a group!
We took the opportunity to see the most anticipated holy site: St. Peter's Basilica.

Part of our group took Via Giulia and walked to St. Peter's past the anti-Mafia building which was surrounded by armed soldiers.

We refilled our water bottles at an aqueduct-fed Roman drinking fountain that is reportedly the "best drinking water" in the city.
It hit the spot!

After visiting the Basilica, we visited Borgo Pio to purchase some holy items that we will have blessed by the Holy Father during the Angelus tomorrow.
After our shopping spree, some strolled home along the Tiber River and other Sisters chose to take the bus home.

It was a great first day of Roman exploration!
